As you might have noticed on my Instagram page I recently got myself a new make-up palette by Smashbox.
For as long as I can remember I never really invested in good make-up. I usually shopped at a local drugstore and got what I needed there. But that’s gradually starting to change. The Naked eyeshadows by Urban Decay for example have been on my want list for a while now. But so far I never made the move.
Last week however, I got a gift certificate for Ici Paris – thanks sis! – and decided this might be a good time to start working on expanding the collection! After some looking around in the store I noticed the smashbox stand. The #shapematters products caught my attention and I decided I was going for one of them – Yes, some clever point of sales marketing does the trick for me.
A few years ago Smashbox launched a youtube video where you can determine what shape your eyes are and learn the best way to apply eye make-up for that particular shape. I have almond shaped eyes for example. Curious what shape yours are? Check out the video here.
I decided to go for the 3 in 1 palette which is the one you can see in the pic below. From left to right: 1. Brows – 2. Face – 3. Eyes. Now I must say, it’s not new. It was released a few years ago already. But with all the good reviews I’ve read, how could I resist?! At almost €65 it’s not the cheapest product, but you do get a lot for your money.
To help you out when you are using it for the first time, it comes with a clever see through foil naming the 3 different zones, the separate products in each zone, and eyeshadow shade.
For todays post I decided to go for dark eye make-up, mainly because I also wanted to check the pigmentation in the eyeshadow shades, and I can already tell you it’s really good!
Now, before I show you the finished look there’s another recently discovered love I want to share with you, KIKO Milano. Since I just ran out of my Victoria’s Secret eyeliner, which I’ve been using for years, I had to start my search for a new partner in crime.. or wing. And thank god for KIKO opening up a store in Turnhout. I decided to give the gel liner a try and also got a new angled brush. And I must say, I’m really quite happy with how it looks.
Below you can see the final result, so let me know what you think!
This is not something I would wear on a daily basis. But when going out this might just be the look I’m going for.
Other products I used are the 2B make-up primer, the 2B Illuminating correcting creme and the Givenchy Photo Perfection fond te teint. For my lips I used a Lip pencil by Hema.
So, that’s it! I hope you like it.
I would definitely recommend this palette to anyone who wants to own a really good product that offers a wide range of flexibility. Since it’s 3 in 1, it’s perfect to take with you when traveling etc.
Next time, I’ll go for a more everyday look 😉
